Hello, this is Shreya, Raghav, Anagha, & Shriya, a group of 10th graders from American High School. For all of us, this is our 1st or 2nd hackathon, and so we’ve been really enjoying the experience and all of the learning that’s coming along with it. Our webpage, LiteraShare, was created considering the challenges many in our community face with old books that they no longer use or a need to get new books that they cannot afford. A unique idea compared to libraries or donating to thrift stores, LiteraShare is a more community-driven project that aims on sharing all kinds of books from test-prep manuals to magazines or your favorite fantasy novels. Basically, it’s an E-library for physical books just within the safety of your community! As part of our project, we’ve developed the user interface (UI) using Figma as a prototype for our actual coded webpage. Along with that, we made the UI of our webpage using Tkinter to allow coding with Python to incorporate databases and greater functionality. Currently, we recognize that our project has much more potential. Even after the hackathon, we hope to add functionality by adding user accounts where users can upload books they are willing to share to the database, rent/buy books, return them, etc. We also hope to add regulations to actions that can be taken by users on the website to add to safety. We believe this webpage has the potential to revolutionize communities and the books they can access!
